April 10th....

I think we are on for April 10th! We will grill out and just have fun... may sneak some cheerleading in there somewhere! We will be at Shelter 5 at Rich Park, starting at 5:30pm! This is not mandatory, as I know this is Good Friday! Each family will need to bring whatever they are wanting to grill, ie, hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. and if you will need buns for your item, bring those! Now, we will have people sign up to bring the rest! I have a few sodas left over from our banquet, I think there are 4, so I will bring those. But we will need people to bring the following:
Condiments: Mayo, mustard, ketchup and relish (and whatever else)
Chips
Toppings: for example, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, etc... cheese
Any other sides
Tea
Charcoal
Aluminum foil
Paper goods

Each athlete will need to bring an Easter basket, as we will be having an Easter egg hunt, too! There may be prizes to win, or a cheerleading move that you will need to do!!! In case of rain, this event will be canceled. So, cross your fingers that it is sunny!!!

Please let me know what items you would like to bring!
Go Eagles!!!

Gold Medal Winners!!! Go EAGLES!!!

The Davie Eagles competed in the Special Olympics North Carolina State Cheerleading Competition Saturday, March 7th, and what a day! Ivy Cowden, our Individual Skills competitor won Gold! This was her first year cheering and in her first ever State Competition took home the Gold! She was loud, sharp with her motions and did some pretty awesome jumps and front kicks. Not to mention, the crowd and judges just thought about her the way we do, they thought she was adorable! Way to go IVY!!!

And in the Intermediate Traditional Teams Division, our group also won GOLD! Our veterans that have cheered with us for two years now are: Darlene Lagle, Amber Jeffries, Lauren Kirk, Meredith Johnson and Kristina Fortini. Newcomers this year are: Dakota Tuttle, Karli Fuller, Brittany Foster, Ashley Caudle and Sara Ijames. This team nailed their chant, cheer, transitions, tumbling, jumps and awesome stunts!!! Last year in our first ever State Competition, we took home bronze, this year, we went straight for the Gold!!!

I am so proud of this team, I can not even begin to explain. And I am also proud of my daughter who had the vision and the leadership to start this wonderful team! God is good!

Great Job!

On Saturday, February 21, 2009, the Davie Eagles traveled to Lindley Center in Greensboro and competed for the first time this season! And let me tell you... they did AWESOME!!! They placed second, and did not compete against anyone... how is that awesome??? We were missing two cheerleaders and did not get to do any tumbling because of our absent teammates... not a problem, because we will have our tumbler doing her thing at our next competition! Soooo... that means that even without all of our cheerleaders there, we still did a great job... and most imp0rtantly, they had a BLAST!!! They danced, they sang and they laughed!!! Go Eagles!

Invitational Coming Up

This Saturday, February 21st, we will be competing in our first competition this year. It is an Invitational event in Greensboro, not sure yet of the location. But this is just to help to prepare them for the State Competition on Saturday, March 7th at Reagan High School on Transou Rd. in Winston-Salem. The team is working very well together, and I have seen so much come out in their personalities that were not there before! They are confident in themselves and in each other, and they are just AWESOME!!!
Parents and fans that wish to attend this competition to cheer us on: we will meet behind the Brock Building on Main Street in Mocksville at 12 noon on Saturday, February 21st. We will then meet the other team members on the eastern side of the county at Food Lion in Advance from there to save them from having to go into town and right back to where they came from!
Come out and support the Davie Eagles and be a fan!!!

What a great practice!

The Davie Eagles had a great practice this past Friday night! You would think they have been at this for years! Honestly, that is one of the first practices we have had in a long time with everyone there and they seemed as though that had never been an issue! They are excited about competing in Asheville on February 7th and we are all anxious for more details. I will post those as they come out! I encourage everyone to attend an event, you would not believe the sportsmanship... awesome!
There is also a hockey game coming up on January 31st at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem between the WSPD and the docs at WFUBMC with all proceeds benefiting NC Special Olympics... admission is $5. Please go to the LJVM Coliseum website for more details!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Linda, mother of cheerleader Darlene, who is in the hospital and has just undergone getting a defibrillator put in place... she has had a rough couple of weeks now... please keep her in your prayers.
I will see everyone Friday evening... at practice! The countdown begins.... 3 more practices until our first competition!
I will post other information as I think of it and as it comes available! Go EAGLES!!!!
